How Lumen works

From a question to a sourced answer, under control.

Lumen uses retrieval-augmented generation over a curated ViiV Healthcare evidence vault. It answers only from indexed source material, cites the exact page, and declines anything outside scope.

The flow

What happens between the question and the answer.

Every Lumen response moves through the same controlled pipeline — so what reaches a healthcare professional is grounded, attributable and in scope.

1

Verify the professional

Access is gated to verified healthcare professionals. An HCP attests and signs in before any answer is served, and every interaction is logged for medical-affairs analytics.

HCP-gated access
2

Retrieve from the evidence vault

Each question runs a retrieval pass over a curated, labelled corpus — approved label, clinical study reports, peer-reviewed literature and congress data. Nothing is pulled from the open web.

Source-locked retrieval
3

Ground the answer in what was retrieved

Lumen composes its reply strictly from the retrieved passages — balanced and evidence-led, including limitations and safety. It does not infer or generalise beyond the source material.

No unsourced claims
4

Cite every claim, page by page

Each statement carries a citation back to the exact document, section and page, so any answer can be opened and verified at its source in a single tap.

Page-level traceability
5

Know what it doesn't know

If a question falls outside the indexed material — an off-label or unapproved-use query — Lumen declines and routes to a human MSL rather than speculate.

Refuses out of scope
Built for medical affairs

Governed like a medical-affairs function.

The pipeline is wrapped in the same controls a medical-affairs team already operates under — so medical, legal and regulatory stay in charge of what Lumen can say.

Pre-launch MLR review

Every response template and refusal pattern is reviewed and approved by medical, legal and regulatory before launch.

Governance board owns updates

A medical-affairs board owns content changes, tied to label updates and congress windows — not ad-hoc edits.

Privacy by design

Aligned to HIPAA, GDPR and local data-protection law. No PHI or PII stored, with a full interaction audit log.

Anchored to the vault

Retrieval is anchored to the ViiV evidence vault by design — Lumen cannot answer from anything outside it.

See it answer from the evidence.

Open Lumen and ask a question about the ViiV portfolio — every reply comes back with its source and page.
